Terrible - don't buy it!
The battery life is really short - on max, mine lasts about 10 minutes only and then takes over 1.5 hours to recharge! So I only get through about a quarter of my house! YOu need to squeeze the button with your fore finger which gets tiresome. It does not really suck up eveyrthing so the surface of my wood floor often has dust left. I find it quite noisy too, and as the length of the handle/stick part is not long enough - obviously made for short people (I am tall). I would send it back if it were not such a faff to do so. I wish I had not bought it. Why does Dyson have such a good reputation when this product is so average? I feel like I was duped by all the marketing!

Love my V8
I love my V8 model. It holds enough charge for me to clean as much as I can physically achieve - has plenty of charge to continue beyond my health restrictions. It is light enough for me to use to its advantages .. clearing codwebs on ceilings, into corners, under furniture and stairs and picks up dirt and dust you didn’t know/see was there. Easy to handle and empty. I never had any doubt about Dyson having previously bought products and my original stick version (decades old now) is still operating somewhere else still. What more can I expect… does the job, easy to use, it lasts and bought at good/reduced price from a well known retailer. Well done Dyson.

Upgraded from V6
I upgraded from the Dyson V6, bought 2015. The V8 has only the three tools but thats all I really need. I can adapt. The suction is much better, I like that the power level is easier to control and can be changed when switched off too. Emptying is a doddle after my old one, I used to use a thin spatula to get all the bits out. Now its done in a couple of seconds. I still have my old one and will use it at times. One great thing is the V8 is quieter.. Have an adult child with ASD noise issues, still an issue though….
V 8 is little heavier but still light and easier to manoeuvre than most on display in stores. Cordless vacs change the way you clean!
Can you make me a quiet kettle please?

A little disappointed to be honest
We were initially very impressed with it and thought we could use it as our main cleaner. However, I find that the pipe gets clogged up really easily and it is quite hard to dislodge the fluff that accumulates in a solid ball. It will be fine for a quick vacuuming job but I wouldn't find it heavy duty enough for a full vacuum. Found it a little disappointing after reading the positive reviews. The dust container fills up very quickly but is easy to empty and it is easy to change the attachments. On the positive side, the cats don't realise it's the scary monster they normally run away from.

Great upgrade
We upgraded our V7 to the V8 when the battery started to fail and the power head roller needed replacing. The V8 was on sale so rather than spend money on spare parts - in fact, the roller was unavailable - we opted to replace instead. What a difference! The power of this new model is far superior and it feels more robust. Dyson say it's a quieter model, but I'm not so sure. Not a problem though as I've always thought they were quiet anyway. Dyson hoovers are expensive but worth investing in when a sale comes along, just a pity the warranty on the handhelds is only 24 months. I thought they'd have more faith in their products than that.

Dyson V8 a complete waste of money!
The Dyson V8 cordless, was the worst purchase of my entire life the battery is not fit for purpose, don’t expect to fully vacuum your 1 bedroom apartment properly unless you buy a spare battery. I returned mine within a week. The 60 minute battery life quoted is if you aren’t using the motorised heads, realistically expect a 7-10 window before you need to recharge. I couldn’t even vacuum my small Renault Clio before the full battery died. I wish I had researched more. I truly believe the Dyson cordless vacuums are a scam to force you to continuously keep replacing batteries and other parts as all comments say a new battery was needed by or before year 3.

Simply the best!
I bought my V8 Absolute in early March after the V6 I had used for 6 years stopped coping with the pet hair from my dog, who joined the family 18 months ago. The V8 is fabulous - quiet, brilliant suction which copes with everything, and 2 speeds which makes for versatile cleaning. It is heavier than the V6 but not unbearably so, it manoeuvres well and it has restored my cream carpets to their former glory. I have used Dyson hoovers for years - I went cordless 6 years ago - and nothing can touch them. Runtime varies depending on whether I’m spring cleaning or not, and it requires more frequent recharging, but it is the best hoover I’ve had.
