Effective but some important drawbacks
Pleased with the cleaning and power. A little disappointed in the battery capacity, run time on auto mode on carpet is only around 20 minutes not nearly close to the advertised 70. The charging time is also quite long. So 20 minutes of cleaning followed by 4 hours of charging! Can get a little heavy when using the attachments that aren't floor based such as the mini motor head. The wand also scratches quite easily, doesn't effect the usability of it but starts to look untidy very quickly. The maneuverability in tight spaces is difficult due to the small wheels and sometimes rickety feeling connection to the wand.

Third Dyson, great overall performance.
I'm on my third handheld Dyson - it's used daily; we have a hard shedding dog - and the choice is always made using simple criteria that include simplicity for easy constant use, ease of emptying the bin, and how much dirt it visibly removes. I bought the copper colour and it looks fabulous. It's easy to whip out when the carpet needs attention and it's very effective. The only difference I noticed with this model is slightly worse performance on high pile areas such as the dog blanket /rug when compared to the previous models. I think it's due to stronger suction. I adjusted how I approach that area and it's ok. Overall happy with my purchase.

Exceptional performance - worth the price tag.
Tremendously effective at detecting dust, and noticeably more suction. I am extremely impressed with the light that shines on hard floor surfaces making it easy to see where the dust is. The trigger from previous models has been replaced by a button, which is a huge design improvement.
Although slightly heavier than my previous Dyson V11, it’s very easy to use as the weight is mostly on the head, which is resting on the floor. The efficient design of the head makes it extremely manoeuvrable.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased and could never go back to the older, cheaper models of hand-held Dysons. Definitely worth the price tag.

5 stars if Eco & Auto modes had more power.
I bought this a month ago. Love the design, attachments and filtration, maneuverabilty. BUT The Eco and Auto Modes feel very underpowered. Boost Mode is excellent but this only lasts for 9 minutes before battery goes flat. On Boost Mode the gen5Detect is awesome and picks up so much hidden/small dust particles (from floors/carpets that already look clean!) which is amazing to see. I love all the attachments especially fluffy optic head as it really does shine a light on dust. Everything is excellent about the gen5Detect so it's a shame that Boost Mode only lasts for 9 minutes

Great vacuum 🥰
This is a lovely piece of equipment. Besides looking stylish and taking up very little space it works so well. It’s very quiet. The hard floor attachment is particularly good to use. It feels light and unlikely to damage wooden floors but very effective at removing dust. The unearthly green light it gives out is fun and very useful. The attachments swivel well to give access under beds and other furniture. Battery run time is good with the display reminding you of remaining time. Can feel heavy after a time but I’ve found I can just use the other hand for a bit. Great quality and thought put into this product.

A great investment
I bought this less than a month ago after cleaning my V11 and ceasing the motor....!!!
Didn't really want to spend out on a new vacuum but this had great reviews so gave it a go.
I am not disappointed! It is quieter than its predecessor but the suction power and performance is brilliant. Comes with great accessories. My particular favourite is the hard floor head with the green laser. I'm equally thrilled and repulsed by it highlighting the hair and dust on my hard floors but helps in making sure you've picked up every last bit of dirt and dust. The screen is interesting as well, telling you how may dustmites germs and other things you have collected. Easy to mount too. 10/10 would recommend.

Disappointing quality and features!
I purchased a Dyson V11 a while ago and was excited when I ordered a new Dyson Gen5detect. I am disappointed about some new features. The built-in dusting and crevice tool does not work as expected. It takes several attempts to restore the tool; it does not snap back into the shaft. Parts of the hair screw tool came off after the first use. Overall, the battery capacity seems lower than my old Dyson V11. I regret my purchase and lost trust in Dyson.

Expensive but works well
I have had a Dyson v7 for years but this is so much better it's just a little bit heavier. I much prefer the old trigger switch to the new push button the trigger switch let me save battery when I was moving about now it's a bit of a faff having to turn it over enough. Apparently it's supposed to do 70 minutes on low power but so far all I've seen is 50 minutes on the display. Also it's a little bit more complicated to empty than the old v7. But it certainly sucks stuff up even after I've used a v7.
