Great but no recipe book!
I bought this breadmaker a couple of years ago and wanted to wait till I could leave a really comprehensive review. I bake a loaf at least twice a week, crusty white at the moment and have made wholemeal as well. The white bread is made with white spelt flower and the milk is substituted with dried coconut milk powder which works well. I want to address issues some people have brought up in their reviews- the lack of a book accompanying such an expensive machine is definitely a negative, it has nothing to do with wanting to be green and much more likely not wanting the expense of including one!
Regarding the collapsing paddle, I put it into my machine upright and make sure when adding my flour that I add it behind the paddle, if you look at the upright paddle as a wave , you add your flour at the back of the wave. This way the paddle stays upright and then goes down properly during baking. I figured this out through trial and error.
You must soak the paddle after baking and make sure to remove all bread residue including the area around the hinge otherwise the paddle will seize up completely. If you have a siezed up paddle try hot water soak first and if that doesn’t loosen it up then soak in what ever cooking oil you use, you should be able to get it working again.
For me given I have used it for a couple of years I can recommend it, the dough setting is excellent, the pizza recipe works well(I add a teaspoon of italian seasoning to it) the quick setting is perfect for a white loaf and I have also made the cinnamon rolls with great success.
My only issue with it is the same as everyone, I want a physical copy of the recipes not digital.

Big, shiny and simple to use
Looking for a replacement breadmaker I found this on the Harvey Norman site. I also checked reviews elsewhere. All were favourable, so I bought the (slightly pricey) Sage machine. It’s bigger than others but it works very well, and the instructions are easy to follow. You don’t get a recipe book with it, so you have to download it. No problem … I baked a very tasty Basic loaf/pan a few hours after opening the box!
