A Beautiful Ornamental Piece
I bought this bonsai build during a week off work as an activity that didn't involve a screen. It is perfect for that.
It took me one evening and one morning to complete. The trunk is the hardest part to get right but it's satisfying when you get it done. I also appreciate how clever the shape of the branches are, it genuinely looks like a little tree.
I chose the pink frog cherry blossom version as I find the frogs adorable and I love blossom. I also made the bottom stand which honestly completes the authenticity of the look.
It now has pride of place on my at home desk.

Beautiful Bonsai
I wanted the Lego Bonsai Tree the second I saw it so when it finally came back in stock I didn’t hesitate and it didn’t disappoint. Although it can be a little fiddly at times, it’s a lovely, relatively quick build that looks beautiful when complete. The choice of foliage is lovely, as is the fact that the set is one of the first to have plant based pieces! I’d recommend this highly and can’t wait for the bouquet to be available too!

Surprisingly real.
I have to say I'm very impressed with this new set. I actually keep bonsai have about 25 or so and I think its a very good design on trying to mimick a real bonsai. The build was very good one of the best I've done and love the way you can change the foliage on the tree. All in all I would say this set is a must buy for any fan of bonsai and even anyone wanting something different

Fantastic little set!
I bought this for myself as a lover of botany and the set did not disappoint. The pictures on LEGOs website do not do it justice! It looks gorgeous displayed on my desk and I have great enjoyment tweaking the branches and fiddling with it. Great set to customise yourself and good value for money. Love the ingeneous idea of loose studs as pebbles and also think it looks quite nice with a mixture of the two foliage options!

Pretty but a little fragile
It’s a really pretty build but, as a few other builders are finding, the trunk is pretty fragile. I can’t get it to stay sturdy despite rebuilding it a few times. Frustrating as I was really excited about putting on the cherry blossom frogs.

Great First Build
I'd had my eye on this set for a while, so very happy when I received this as a Christmas present.
I've not used Lego for 30+ years, but really enjoyed building this set.
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. It took me nearly three hours to build, but that was with interruptions. I love the fact you can choose between cherry blossoms or normal leaves. I chose the cherry blossoms, but will look to change them once summer arrives. The tool which comes with it was also really useful, as I did put a couple of pieces together incorrectly.
This may be my first adult set, but it certainly won't be my last!!
All in all, a really enjoyable, fun and relaxing build.

Lovely appearance but....
Over the last few months i've built up a collection of the botanicals, I've enjoyed building and love the colours. I chose to build the bonsai in pink (splash of colour) initially and it took me about 2 hrs.
Firstly, it looks great, but .....
- the build is a bit repetitive (9 identical foliage groups)
- the instructions of how to attach the foliage groups (groups of 3) are not as clear as they could be
- i referred to the online instruction booklet a few times because the colours are clearer.
Overall, good but not great!

Treemendous
The set does have a lot of pieces and hard to come by elements (eg the cherry blossoms seem to be pink frogs), so the set may appeal if you want some unusual bricks.
Bear in mind that 200 of the pieces are the little circular studs which you just pour into the pot. Therefore in one step you technically do about a quarter of the build which was a bit disappointing, as there's only actually 678 bricks to put together.
Putting the tree leaves together is a bit fiddly and the pictures in the booklet when you do them aren't very clear. As far as I can tell pretty much every leaf is laid out the same, so I would recommend building one and putting it to the side as a visual reference. You can then connect them to the branch and add the final bits in one go. If the instructions said to do this I would have given full marks for play experience.
Overall the model does look lovely and it is easy to switch to the cherry blossoms (as the branches detach). I still really like the model and I am glad to add it to my collection.
