The Microsoft Surface Pro is Microsoft’s attempt to answer the age-old question: Why choose between a laptop and a tablet when you can have both—and pay for both too? Thankfully, the result is actually quite impressive.
The device is sleek, lightweight, and beautifully designed. It’s thin enough to slip into a bag without complaint and stylish enough to make nearby laptops feel slightly insecure. The famous kickstand is a clever touch, letting the Surface Pro transform between laptop mode, tablet mode, and a “leaning artist at a café” mode with ease.
Pair it with the detachable keyboard and Surface Pen (Steve Jobs loved this!) and it becomes a versatile productivity machine. Typing feels comfortable, and writing on the screen is surprisingly natural—ideal for notes, sketches, or pretending to look busy in meetings.
Performance is solid for everyday tasks like emails, Office work, browsing, and video calls. It handles multitasking well, though it’s not designed to replace a high-powered workstation. Think “efficient professional” rather than “gaming monster.”
The display is sharp, colourful, and responsive, making it excellent for reading, annotating documents, or binge-watching something when you were meant to be working.
Battery life generally lasts a full workday—unless you open 47 browser tabs, which, let’s be honest, you probably will.
The biggest drawback is the price, especially since the keyboard and pen are sold separately.
Overall, the Surface Pro is a brilliantly versatile device—a tablet when you want one, a laptop when you need one, and occasionally a very expensive Netflix screen.
