It works on naturally dark blonde, brown and black colored hairs and on skin tones from very white to dark brown. As with other IPL based treatments, Philips Lumea cannot be used to treat white / grey, light blonde or red hair and is not suitable for very dark skin. This is due to the high contrast required between the pigment in hair color and pigment in the skin tone.

Pretty terrible
I’ve got dark hair on fair skin (which is apparently ideal) and had been bang on with my treatment schedule using the highest possible setting and I’ve seen little to no results after my 8 week bootcamp?! Really thorough and slow in my technique yet I’ve only got tiny patches where the hair grows back slowly. Otherwise, there doesn’t look like there’s been any change. Underarms/bikini line is no different, some small patches on my calves have taken but that’s it. So disappointed as Id saved up for ages for an expensive product that promises good results. So my advice is save your money and time and don’t bother.

Very disappointed even after 6 months
I wanted this product for more than a year but I found it expensive and never bought. Because even after a year I wanted we decided with my fiance that I will get it as a joint present for birthday and Christmas and like that he can afford. Since 2nd November I am using it every 2 weeks and still lots of hair growing.. I even tried to epilate then shave and then using it but still no effect.. There is like 5% reduction for me only.. I wanted to send it back within the 3 months but my fiance convinced me not to because maybe I just need to use for a longer time.. such a waste of money and can't even blame my hair colour or my skin. I have dark brown hair and pale skin colour. If you have no change within 3 months send it back in the refund period (3monhts) otherwise you may really mind it later on...

Brilliant Hair Removal Device
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this for the past two months and I am pleasantly surprised with the results. I can honestly say, the hair on my face and body have massively reduced by 70% already. The growth back is very slow and hair are more spread out. The thickness of the hair has also reduced. I have been using the app to manage when to use the device. It’s very easy to use. The Lumea device has 5 different settings. I started from setting 3 just to get used to it and after regular use I am now able to tolerate the highest setting. The attachements are very handy and easy to swap over. It’s also very easy to clean too. I love it!

Beginning to see results.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this product for 2 cycles. For information I have been using the product on setting 5 for all areas.
Legs- I think this is the area I have found the Lumea to be least effective for. I have yet to notice any change in hair density or growth.
Face- although the results have not been dramatic, I think that the hair growth has started to slow in this area.
Stomach- this is the area I have found the Lumea to be most effective on. Hair is definitely more slow growing and lighter.

Great to be hairless
This product is great. It’s easy to use and has an app with tips and hints. The downside is it feels fairly heavy to hold for longer periods of time. It feels it takes a while to do my legs and my finger starts to hurt holding onto the button continuously. It could do with having a longer cord to make it easier to use. I think they do a cordless but that was not within my price range. . It is very effective at reducing hair growth. I haven’t used it on my face yet due to using retinols in my skin care. .

Good results within 7 weeks of use.
I was selected to test this Lumea for seven weeks and was sceptical that I would notice the difference in that time but was pleasantly surprised. I liked the feature that selected the correct setting for your skin tone / hair colour and used that to begin with. I soon started to use the highest setting on my legs without any discomfort (just a little extra heat around bony areas such as anklebones). I also used the highest setting on my underarms and got good results on both of these areas noticing quite a considerable lessening of the hair in these areas. My bikini line was treated with the medium setting due to this Bering a more sensitive area but still there was noticeable deduction of hair growth.

I love this product!

So my results are great I can already notice a difference in the amount of hairs regrowing. It’s very easy to use and I experience next to no pain at all!. It has different strengths and a handy app that reminds you when to do your next session all in all it’s great!

Worth the investment!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very pleased with the outcomes of the Lumea! The first time I used it it took a little while to get used to it, by the second time I found a good routine and it was really easy to use. The setting ‘search’ option was really helpful, and accurate for my legs. It felt slightly warm at times and I did turn it down slightly for the underarm area as it felt more sensitive. I will certainly be using it every 4 weeks to keep up my treatment and there is noticeably less hair growth. Overall, the product is an investment but I believe it is worth it if you keep up the treatments.
