With Nothing OS 4.1 on the (4a) Series, Essential Space supports cloud access for the first time, unlocking seamless access across devices. Over time, your Essential Space will be available across phone, laptop, desktop, watch, and more, so what matters is always within reach.
Finding what you need is effortless with Essential Search. Type a keyword to instantly surface apps, messages, images, notes, or questions you would normally search for, without opening multiple apps or digging through menus.

New in Nothing OS 4.1, Essential Voice turns your speech into clear, well-structured text. Design & Glyph Interface
Design Evolution: The Signature Transparent Look of the (a) Series
Phone (4a) continues and further evolves the classic design language of the (a) series - futuristic, mechanical, and transparent.
The upper section of the phone features a centrally aligned camera, red Recording Light, and Glyph Bar, emphasising functionality, while the lower section conveys a sense of mechanical elegance, hinting at the underlying FPC, battery, and other internal structures - all visible beneath the transparent glass.
The use of metal on the back has been enhanced, with metallic buttons, a reinforced camera bump, and a strengthened plastic frame offering greater resistance to bending.
While still rated IP64, Nothing goes beyond the standard, supporting submersion in water up to 25cm for 20 minutes. Although not as deep as IP68’s 1-meter water resistance, it delivers nearly full-range protection against water immersion.
Glyph Interface: Inspired by Retro Electronics, Designed to Reduce Distractions and Enhance Focus
Phone (4a) introduces an all-new Glyph Bar, composed of six square lights. Each light supports three brightness levels, allowing precise display of progress-based information such as live notifications, charging status, timers, and more. Compared to before, this is a complete evolution - the lights are purer and capable of conveying finer details. It wouldn’t be a Nothing Phone without customisation. Phone (4a)’s Glyph Bar also supports custom light sequences for calls, specific contacts, and notifications, paired with Nothing’s beloved ringtones and sounds or let the system generate them automatically.

Phone (4a)’s display sees a significant upgrade - firmly at the flagship level, with specs that nearly match Nothing flagship Phone (3). It features a 6.78" AMOLED panel with an impressive 1.5K resolution (1224 × 2720) and a pixel density of 440 PPI, packing more detail into every inch than the human eye can distinguish.
With a peak brightness of 4500 nits (HDR) and 1600 nits (HMB), visibility stays superb even under direct sunlight. This exceptional brightness also makes Ultra HDR photos and videos truly shine, unlocking brilliant highlights while deep AMOLED blacks deliver contrast-rich depth.
Interactions are effortlessly smooth thanks to the 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, seamlessly adjusting to on-screen content, and a 1000 Hz touch sampling rate for instant responsiveness while gaming. To protect against eye strain, Phone (4a) has pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming at 2160 Hz. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which is twice as scratch-resistant as lithium aluminosilicate cover glasses, like the Panda Glass 1681 used in the previous generation, and can survive a 1-meter drop onto asphalt. This upgrade reflects both careful design consideration and user feedback. It allows you to place your phone face down more often, making it easier to appreciate the transparent design and interact with the Glyph Bar, without worrying about scratches.
