Perfect family tablet for homework apps
I wanted a good value tablet to set up for use with a couple of apps my young kids were encouraged to use as part of their homework, as well as some others that I am happy for them to use. This HMD T21 is it!
Although the speed of the tablet is a little lacking, due (I think) to the limited RAM, it is still adequate for my family's needs, and for the price paid I've no complaints.
Despite the specs on the Harvey Norman product page, this tablet arrived with Android 14 (not 12), and reading the HMD site I think it might get Android 15 at some point, and is due for security updates until mid-2027, very important for me.
I was not impressed by the bundled Kids Space (by Google), some may like it, but IMO it encourages mindless viewing of silly videos, which I am not a fan of, and also gives access to many "expert approved" apps. I would rather the experience be more focused.
In the end, I set up a separate user profile for each kid, and doing so prompted me to create a child Google Account (per child) which became linked to my own, and provides content control etc. though the Google Family Link app (which is quite good). Took some time to configure it all, but worth the effort.

It’s the busiest time of the year and the shop in Limerick was extremely busy. But the workers were there ready to help flying through the floor and assisting as much. I’ve got everything I wanted not as soon but with the great pleasure. I like shopping in HN!!! Thank you for your service!!!
