First real coffee purchase
I thought I had been into my coffee for year but it turns out I was barely dipping a toe into the waters. As a result I decided to upgrade my coffee equipment and first and most importantly that meant a proper grinder. Before I was using a spice mill which was... Ok. I thought it was great but after spending time to dial in the right grind settings for me and using this for a month - I was completely wrong.
This grinder seems to get more flavours from the bean. It's odd. I've never been someone who gets something and gushes about it but the same coffee, through this grinder, and a 16 year old espresso machine tastes much better.
Would I purchase again - in a heartbeat.
Would I recommend - oh yes. And I have done.

Impressive grinder
Very impressed with this grinder: attractive design; user-friendly controls; 60 grind settings ( on the face of it that might seem a bit OTT, but the graduated spectrum offers a wonderful scope for finding the grind setting for different types and methods of coffee making ); adaptors for both 54 and 58mm portafilters is a nice touch; a neat container for larger amounts of coffee. It’s also mess-free and very easy to clean. I could have done with a means of knowing how many grams of coffee I was dosing the portafilter with, but that’s a minor quibble: I don’t think grinders other than Grind By Weight ones are capable of doing that.

An excellent purchase for coffee people looking to take the next step
I did considerable research before buying this grinder, and am really happy with the results. I had been holding out for the Wilfa Uniform, but manufacturing issues seem to be holding the production of it and the date for any order was getting pushed further and further into the future. As a result, I bit the bullet and purchased this grinder.
For the last four years or so, I've been quite into coffee. I've been buying my own beans, hand grinding them, watching videos and reading books. Upon moving to my new house, I felt that the morning routine of trying to grind 36 grams of coffee for my partner and I was becoming a nuisance rather than a pleasure. As such, I became more serious about getting a grinder.
I was initially determined to try and get a single dose grinder, because my preference is for V60 filter coffee. I felt flat burrs would be more desirable and that I'd prefer not to have a hopper filled with beans. I might still prefer that. However, the reality of that market is you're spending more money to often get an inferior product. The Fellow Ode is a very attractive grinder, but far too narrow in its range - I also like to make Aeropress 'espresso' with a very fine grind. The Niche Zero would be lovely, but would be double the price (and still has conical burrs). The aforementioned Wilfa Uniform is a grinder I had had my eye on for months, but it is just to inaccessible that it feels like a pipe dream. The Wilfa Svart was never going to deliver the consistent quality I wanted either, and has many annoying features.
So in the end there felt like only one real option: the Sage Smart Grinder Pro. It had a hopper, which I wasn't sure about but has honestly been fine. It's UV protective and quite air tight, so I don't worry about the coffee going stale particularly. It seemed to specialise in espresso, but it does have a really nice grounds collection bin which works very well. It's very intuitive, looks lovely and produces incredibly consistent coffee. As I go by weight for my grounds, there was a bit of a learning period as to how many seconds of grinding on a given grind size would produce a certain amount of coffee. Once dialled in, there's nothing wrong with that!
If you're still using a hand grinder, I cannot emphasise how nice it is to push a button and get high-quality, freshly ground coffee in a matter of seconds - it's almost too fast! My kettle now seems to take an age to boil.
I got my grinder in the gorgeous black finish and think it works really well in my kitchen. This was a significant outlay but I am so happy I did it. Highly recommend.

Good experience with this grinder. Reliable.
Good consistent grind - very happy with it. Bit of static clumping on very fine grind settings. Also a bit of a palaver cleaning out between beans as it retains a fair amount of ground coffee in the bottom of the grind chamber. Handle on top of the bean hopper lid is not very robust.

I wouldn't buy another one
Nice grinder but this is a replacement under warranty for one that stopped working properly after 9 months. Fingers crossed this one lasts. Good hopper size, the coarsest setting isn't coarse enough. You only get sent details of 'advanced cleaning' when there's a problem and it's very fiddly. There is a flimsy felt washer which seems destined to fail - appyou can get replacements although again nothing in the manual. One suggestion from sage about the previous machine not working properly was 'the beans may be too oily' . I think if you design coffee grinders you must know that dark roast arabica beans have an oil content greater than 15%. I wouldn't buy another one and truthfully I'd have preferred a refund but let's hope this replacement lasts!

Beautiful
Looks beautiful and works beautifully. I have used it every day for 12months, it never fails to deliver precisely the dosage I require. Takes a little bit of experimentation to get exactly what you want in grain size, dosage and time setting but once done that's it. Wonderful!

Good Grinder - First unit failed. Second unit sounds like bag of nails.
Great looking grinder, good features. Functionally does a good job of grinding coffee. I can dail in good espresso without using pressurised portafiliter on finest setting without needing to adjust burrs on Bambino. Also works well for coarser grind such as V60 or aeropress.
First unit failed within a few months, I assume it was the gearbox that went as the motor continued to spin but the blades would not. Was sent an exchange unit which was nice. The burrs are all removable which is good.
Replacement unit works fine but sounds like a bag of nails compared to the first unit which was very smooth. I do worry that the replacement will not work as long as the original!
