Installation FAQ's
Can I purchase an installation service without a delivery service?
Our installation service can only be purchased together with a delivery service.
Can I select a specific time and day for my installation?
Our installation service is available from Tuesday - Saturday, depending on the coverage of the area in which you live. Our teams will do our best to find a time to suit you.
How will I know when to expect my delivery & install?
A text message will be sent to the mobile number provided on your order, two days before your delivery, confirming the delivery date. On the day of your delivery, our crew will call you to confirm a 2-hour timeframe.
Will you be able to disconnect and remove my old appliances?
If you are getting a new electrical home appliance delivered, we'll take your old one back to be recycled. However, you must ensure your old electrical appliance is disconnected, clean and ready for the driver at the time of delivery.
Please be advised customers must use a Registered Gas Installer when installing or removing a gas appliance.
What does the install charge cover?
-
Site Assessment.
-
Unpacking and positioning of your new appliance.
-
Connection to an electrical outlet, a waste outlet or a water outlet depending on the appliance you are having installed.
-
Operational testing of the machine.
-
Removal of old appliance and packaging.
The CER (Commission of Energy Regulation) when defining Regulated Electrical Work recognises that a certain amount of electrical installation work involves 'like for like' replacements and these types of work are referred to as Minor Electrical Work. At Harvey Norman we carry out this 'like for like' installation service, therefore fall under the category of Minor Electrical Works (Commission of Energy Regulation CER) and as a result comply with current legislation.
Do you offer gas installation?
Currently we do not offer installation of gas appliances. Only Registered Gas Installers are permitted to work on domestic natural gas and LPG appliances and pipework. Please see www.rgi.ie for further information.
Why is a site assessment carried out?
In order to ensure our installers are working in a safe environment, within the remit of the service and are able to provide you with the best installation service possible a site assessment will be carried out. This will be done prior to the installation being completed.
If our installers, for any reason, deem the installation unsafe or outside of the remit, the work will not commence.
If you have any issues with your installation service, call your store of purchase. You can find your local store's details on our Store Finder.
I have bought an appliance that is larger than my old one and need it installed. Will you cut Kitchen Cabinets, Kickboards or Worktops to fit it?
No, we are currently only installing appliances on a like for like basis where the new appliance fits into the space in the worktop left by the previous appliance.
I have bought an appliance that needs to be installed in a different location from my old appliance. Will you install it?
We will install your new appliance in any position that you choose as long as the services (power, water, waste etc) are already in situ. We do not plumb or cable new lines to the new location.
How do I prepare for my Delivery and Install?
-
Clear access in the driveway for transporting the appliance from the delivery van to your house.
-
Clear any obstructions from the side entrance where applicable for delivery from rear of the house.
-
Clear hallway of any obstructions.
-
Ensure the under-sink cabinet is emptied and clear for plumbing.
-
Empty old appliances such as dishwasher's, washing machines, ovens, microwaves, fridges and dryers.
-
Defrost freezers fully.
Essential Checks Before Ordering:
We recommend that you measure the delivery access routes in your home as follows:
-
All access points, exterior door access, interior doors and hallways.
-
The space where the appliance will be installed.
-
Your old appliance if applicable.
Let us know of any access issues to help us prepare for your delivery:
-
External steps.
-
If the delivery room of choice is accessed via stairs.
-
Tight corners.
-
Narrow corridors.
Inspect and measure the area of Installation:
Measure the space for your appliance and check that the necessary electrical and plumbing connection points are within 1.5 meters of where the appliance is to be installed.
