Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor From Bose Bough and delivered Monday. Now on its way back. having owned a Bose compact 3 and used my TV with that the Solo 5 was very poor. Sound quality is not what I would expect from Bose. Lacking in bass and the sound from the sounder is weak and sounds like it is coming from inside a tin can. The output power via optical is simply not enough to fill even my small room. Changing to analogue gives more output. I love Bose stuff but this is a seriously poor sounding piece of kit. A big mistake to exclude a subwoofer. The sound is not even on a par with my Min speaker for my Ipod. Buy with caution and make sure to go for demo first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing sound compact size I've had this a few days now and I'm really impressed. I have this set up in my bedroom which is relatively small and the compact size and being able to mount it to the wall has saved some space. There's a drastic improvement over my TV speakers and the Bluetooth connectivity is perfect for streaming music wirelessly. Set up was easy and the Bose remote connected easily with my TV and Sky box and no longer needing to use sky remote, just the Bose one, which is handy. My only criticism would be the bass but for my needs it is more than adequate. I also think it looks fantastic, incredibly sleek!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Audible dialogue at last! We've had a slim flat screen TV for some while, and have been struggling to hear dialogue clearly, do took the decision to buy a soundbar. We bought the Solo 5 based on neat design, simplicity and mostly good reviews. We have the soundbar hooked up to the TV via the optical lead supplied and we are really pleased with the result. Set up was easy and the clarity of dialogue is exactly what we were looking for. Clear speech, especially using the dialogue enhancement function and no discernible lip synch problems with any of the programmes we have watched thus far. Nice work Bose!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound for the size This is a great speaker and sound for the size. I think some of the bad reviews are expecting too much. It doesnt sound like a system with a dedicated sub. But it sounds really clear and does have bass. We also have the sound link mini which it has similar/maybe a bit more base to but clearer vocal. We did have a very good 5.1 sony system but were fed up with the sight of the sub and speakers everywhere. This was the smallest sound bar we could find and we absolutely love it. As a bonus the control is nearly worth buying the speaker for. We have gone from 4 remotes to 1 and the bose remote controls everything. Has a great programmable option that turns Sky,Tv and the speaker on and off all together. If you are looking for room shaking bass then this isn't for you. but if you want clear sound with some bass then this is really great. Looks really good and minimal which is the look we have gone for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quietly fantastic I purchased the Solo 5 to enhance my flat screen TV. Very easy to connect everything up, one cable (a choice of the 2 supplied) to the TV & the supplied power cable. Customising the universal remote was also straight forward, the feature to switch everything (TV, satalite & soundbar)on or off together is really handy. Pairing gadgets via bluetooth was also very easy. All in all in 20 to 30 minutes & you're relaxing and enjoying everything the solo 5 can offer, wondering why you waited so long to get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One word "FANTASTIC" I took a chance buying the "solo 5" But so happy I did...in the past I purchased units much too big for the living room...wires and cables ,all over the place...etc...what this unit offers is"sound to size ratio" it sits perfectly in front of my Tv ...with no wires showing... I only use it when watching a DVD or a good sounding HD film on Tv... Otherwise I just use the Tv's own speakers...everything from clear speech to A convincing Subwoofer...need I say more? The best of both worlds... If you have an average sized living room like me this is all you'll need....

Got rid of our surround sound system many years ago after the sub woofer was upsetting my neighbour (live in a semi-detached). Really pleased with this soundbar, everything we'd hoped it would be. Has the bass that has been lacking and overall a really well balanced sound with plenty of volume. The clarity from speech, even without dialogue mode, has transformed our viewing experience and have started listening to alot more music as a result. Everything needed was in the box and it's hooked up to the optical out on our TV. Universal remote works great. No complaints from our neighbour yet (it's been several weeks). Loved Bose ever since experiencing their product in an old Audi.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing An expensive piece of kit, that you’d think would deliver great sound. The results are mostly disappointing. The sound from live digital tv is mildly better than the fairly awful sound from our expensive Panasonic tv. Speech is significantly clearer when the sound bar is in ‘dialogue mode’, which makes everything else sound thin and unattractive. The main disappointment is with streaming tv (from BBC iPlayer, Amazon Video, Netflix, etc). For these the Solo5 barely delivers any improvement. The disappointment continues if you need support - the web address is a broken page!
