SUCKS!
Yes, it sucks and is powerful. But this is probably the worst vacuum cleaner we have ever used. Dirt builds up in the cylinder, it doesn’t spin - it sticks in one area and looks as though it’s stopped working properly. The head sticks to whatever floor it’s used on, it rarely sucks up pet hair but leaves it in small clumps and IT IS VERY VERY DIFFICULT to push along the floor. I’m 54 and relatively fit but it’s a REAL WORKOUT pushing this to and fro along a carpet. NEVER AGAIN.

Great Features
I am a Dyson fan and this has been the case for at least the past 10 years, so I was keen to try the new filter less version . The new NO FILTER hoover is perfect for me as I am not great at remembering to clean filters. I found this hoover slightly heavier than previous ones but this could be a plus (stops it toppeling over) or a minus (when hoovering stairs). I love the new swivel top handle it definatley makes thinks easier also the little trigger to shut off the suction if you accidently try to suck up the curtains. Its very easy to to empty although the inner plastic release tube shutter does seem a little flimsy. It has all of the usual attachments with a couple of new ones, which I havent tried yet sorry!!! Overall I think there are some fantastic improvements from previous models and would definately recommend this Dyson.

Excellent machine and highly recommended
The new Dyson Animal is a vast improvement on the previous model in most aspects. The dust removal system is excellent with no filters to clean and amazing suction. However the Turbo Brush head is smaller than the last model but the filter on the brush head is close to the ground and tends to block readily. I don't understand why this was designed in this way when it would be better placed on the top of the brush head to avoid blocking.

Very poor and difficult to use
We had a dc1 for years, the best vacuume ever. After upgrading to this one I will never buy a dyson again. I would call it a sweeper as it just pushes the dust around. Vacuuming the house takes much longer and results are still not good. Hard to push around tools difficult to change, floor brush difficult to change between carpet and hard floor.
Over priced rubbish don't buy.

Excellent cleaning
The machine was able to pick up a lot more cat fur than the previous model when using the turbo brush, I wasn't as keen on the smaller turbo brush head. It was lighter and therefore easier to carry up stairs and was easier to move around with the big ball feature and didn't have to worry about it falling over as much. It was very easy to empty when required.

Great product
My house feels sparkling clean with this new Dyson ! Excellent cleaning power and useful new features - self-levelling head which works really well and no filter to clean, which is a bonus. For me, the only improvement would be for the turbinehead to return to the size of the one on my DC39 (this one smaller than I'm used to). Overall very pleased.

don't buy it
so glad I hung on to my 15 year old Electrolux. If I clean with the Dyson then use the Electrolux there is so much more picked up, if I do it the other way round there is nothing picked up. First time in many years I have had to pick up fluff by hand. Total waste of money that, as a full time carer for my 92 year old mother, I can ill afford.

Design issues
On first use the machine was promising. However, it frequently dumps the contents of the bin onto the machine and floor when attempting to lift out the container and empty the machine. This happens often, since the bottom flap unclips and swings open when removing the container no matter how fastidious we are about making sure the bottom flap is clipped in securely during the previous emptying cycle. This requires reassembly and a clean up of all the spilled dust and debris. It also requires emptying very often, despite the large bin, since fluff collects and piles up at the back of the collection chamber near its' intake, leaving the front of the machine empty and nowhere near the "Max" mark until fluff starts to work around and clog the metal mesh. One other point, when using be careful to avoid lifting the tube beneath the handle by gripping the circular pivot or sliding tube - it has proven to be a painful finger trap.. Cannot recommend this machine.
