What exactly is Product Care? People are often first introduced to this product in our store at the point when they have decided to make an important buying decision. This can come as an unexpected surprise and a cost not considered which is, lets face it, not a position you wanted to be in when you left the house to buy Washing Machine you've been needing. So to explain how it works we've given some examples of scenarios based on real situations we have experienced so you can understand the advantage an extended warranty brings and consider it in your planning before you come to see us in store. This way there are no surprises and you can plan for it in advance.
Scenario 1: Sue, a mother of 4 children, bought a brand new Washing Machine 3 years ago and it suddenly stopped spinning half way through a cycle. After trying to figure out what was wrong with it she contacted the store she originally bought the Washing Machine from to report the problem. As it was outside of its initial 12 month warranty the manufacturer would apply a call out charge of €70 to come to examine the Washing Machine to find the fault, any parts or labour required after this would be an additional charge. As she needed to use the machine she agreed and the technician arrived within 5 working days.
After the initial call out the technician found that a belt that spins the drum had failed. This resulting in the machine not spinning to complete the cycle.
An inconvenience but probably a routine issue you might imagine when a machine is used quite often, but when taking into account the technicians call out fee, parts and labour Sue's repair bill was over €200. Sue was obviously not happy!!!
Scenario 2: Frank, a father of 3 children, bought a brand new Washing Machine just like Sue 4 years ago and it was unresponsive when he went to do a wash. After trying to figure out what was wrong with it he contacted the store he originally bought the Washing Machine from to report the problem. As it was covered by Product Care all he had to do was contact the Product Care team on 1800 200 503 or fill out the Product Care Claim form on the Harvey Norman website.
Frank filled out this form and within 3 days a technician called and replaced a faulty water pump allowing him to catch up on the pile of kids clothes that had built up in the mean time. All costs including the call out charge, parts and labour were covered.
If Sue had included Product Care cover with her Washing Machine this call out charge and repair bill and any others like it are covered with no hassle. All Sue would have needed to do is contact the store she purchased the Washing Machine from or even contact the Product Care Department directly and they would have solved her problem as soon as possible and with minimal disruption.
