Excellent quality photos, lightweight, easy to use
Bought this for my first trip away as didn't feel comfortable getting my phone out for pictures all day. What a great decision, its only a 1mp difference from my Xperia Z2 but the quality of the pictures and difference with the wide angles made our memories unforgettable! Never had a camera before, not very techy, but was so easy to use and play with the settings. Lovely and small perfectly compact for the trip, kept it hanging on my wrist with the strap provided. Was very suprised at the battery life - a day in London from 10am, 566 pictures later, didn't die until we were making our way back home around 10pm. As usual Sony hasn't disappointed.

Slow operation- flash fires 4 times for Red Eye
I bought this camera 3 weeks ago to take photos on a recent holiday. I selected this camera as it had excellent reviews on Techradar which rated this camera in the top 10 for compacts. It was also considerable cheaper than the competition but the old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies. The red eye reduction setting means the flash activates 4(!) times before the photo is taken. I lost count of the number of action shots I lost or people moved before the photo was taken. Also the flash intensity meant some photos were over exposed and some were poorly lit. Video footage kept on going out of focus even though the subject moved very little.

Disappointing
I received this as a present to be a replacement for my previous camera which gave up the ghost after many years of service. I have only tested this one a little but was very disappointed to find that I could not edit, and retain, taken images by using the zoom feature, something my last camera did. To be sure I hadn't misunderstood the instructions I emailed Sony who confirmed that this camera did not have this feature. Otherwise it seems a basic pocket camera, easy to use, although like most cameras it is difficult to see what's on the screen in very bright conditions. I have not yet tried to edit photos online.

Good things come in small packages
On a recent trip abroad some instinct told me to buy a back-up, just-in-case camera. Some instinct, some camera! A few days into holiday, my usual camera was in a small backpack which was stolen when I wasn't looking. Unfortunately my new camera's cable was in the pack too. So I started using my "back-up" . I like the quickness and precision of the zoom, the movie-function. By the time I returned home and had ordered and received the cable, loaded up on the iMac, I was genuinely astonished at the clarity, focus of W800 Compact and very pleased by the fact that It is so easy to use, especially for a non-techie like me

A real little gem
I was looking for small camera to replace one that got lost and had been putting off the time to get another when I saw this little gem. I have a good knowledge of cameras from the past (30 years in photo trade) so I recognise a bargain when I see one . This has an "Easy" feature for quick snapshots but also has enough manual settings for my use. Ilove the movie function which I used recently and was pleased with trhe results taken in poor light.. Great little camera

Customer is thrilled
I am so glad I bought this camera. I am a bit of a technophobe so I was hugely relieved to be able to understand the instruction leaflet. Additionally, I have had no problem working out how to use its various functions by myself. It is a small, compact camera and I love using it. I would recommend it to anyone. Especially to the more technically challenged!

Cheap and Cheerful!
Bought this to carry with me at all times - mainly for use outdoors. For the price, not going to be too upset if I lose it or drop it in a stream. Quite good results in good light, but indoors, had best results without flash, standing the camera on a firm surface and using the delayed action timer.

W800 for site works
My employer supplied this camera as my previous camera had stopped working.
Difficult to see what is displayed on the screen when the Sun shines onto it. Still difficult to see what is on the screen when the Sun shines onto your face and it reflects off the screen.
